A greenery development design - the competition at the Garden Fair

The  GARDEN Fair  is also the opportunity to promote construction and gardening trends. The expo is a good occasion to show interior designers', gardens', home architects' work.

 The organizers of the  Nationwide Landscape Architecture Competition  "Garden TY"  - Dariusz Gajny in conjunction with the Landscape Promotion Agency set themselves the goal of promoting the landscape architect profession among general public. They also aim to select the best team of representatives of various educational institutions.  The competition is targeted at high school students of landscape architecture, garden art, gardening (or other professional courses related to the green areas space design).

The competition began on March 1 and last until April 9; the contest is divided into two stages.

The first phase of the project required the participants to develop a green-areas landscape plan. The second stage will be held in Targi Kielce exhibition and congress centre within the scope of the "Garden and You" Fair, on April 9 (Saturday) from 10.00 to 17.00.

The rules of the second stage

The team of the institution's representatives is divided in order to perform different tasks. The tasks list includes:

Task I - a conceptual design followed with a presentation to all competition participants (presented by one representative of the group)

Task II - knowledge test  on landscape architecture.  The test consists of multiple-choice questions, open questions and a practical part. On the latter part the contestants are to recognize plant material prepared by the Organizer.

Task III - field-work, geodesy. - dimensions transfer: from the plan area to the actual plot and vice versa, ability to use measuring devices (owing to the short time-slot, i.e. about 10 minutes, this is the task performed by contestants who had been assigned to perform task I)

Task IV   - artistic skills verification - drawings to represent the actual view supplemented with imaginary elements.

Each task is scored separately, the sum of points determines the final result of the team. The jury evaluates tasks performance, accuracy, thoroughness and aesthetics, teamwork, compliance with the guidelines, presentation skills.
