26th National Assembly of Solidarity to be held in Targi Kielce

The two days’, 24th National Assembly of NSZZ Solidarność (the Independent and Self-governing Trade Union Solidarity) commences this morning in Targi Kielce. Almost 500 assembly delegates will be discussing the present day image of the trade union which used to associate 10 million Poles 30 years ago and had thus triggered social and political changes.

The meeting held in Targi Kielce continues until Friday. The union members will discuss, inter alia, Poland’s employment and social situation as well as the present days structure of Solidarity. Among the guests of honour invited to attend the session there are Professor Ryszard Bugaj, the President of the Institute of National Rememberance Łukasz Kamiński PhD, the Chief Labour Inspector - Iwona Hickiewicz, the Chairman of Wspólnota Polska (Polish Union)– Longin Komołowski.

Recapitulation of the two terms of office will be one of the main points on the agenda of the 26th Assembly. The delegates will also fill in the vacancies in the Nation Board. One of the resolutions to be made during the session it to bestow the Meritorious Service for NSZZ Solidarity Title to late President Lech Kaczyński.
