A record-breaking carrier pigeon auction in Targi Kielce
This year's Carrier Pigeons Charity Auction had promised to be a record-breaking one, yet the results came as a surprise for everyone. The Polish Association of Carrier Pigeons was provided 129 birds by the breeders. The funds in the amount of 51,100 Polish Association of Carrier Pigeons raised in the course of the Auction were donated to the Paediatric Oncology Department at the Wł. Buszkowski Specialist Provincial Children's Hospital.
The paediatric oncology department can be referred to as "a bottomless pit" in everyday language - said Anna Mazur-Kałuża - the spokesperson of the hospital the needs are enormous, therefore we truly appreciate such campaigns. Not only are pigeon breeders people of passion, they also have tender hearts.
The most expensive pigeon on the auction represented Poland during the Olympics in 2011; it was sold for 3,000 PLN.
District Exhibition of Carrier Pigeons of Kielce District follows the many-year traditions of charity pigeon auctions. Until now 110 thousand PLN has been raised and donated to the hospital.
