A FEW WORDS ABOUT CROATIA

The International Fair of Rural and Agricultural Tourism AGROTRAVEL is to be held from in Targi Kielce 10 to 12 April; not only does the event integrate domestic tourist industry, but also the whole Europe's business sector. The AGROTRAVEL expo provides an excellent opportunity to become acquainted with different regions' culture and traditions. This year's expo highlight is the Partner Country represented Croatia's Velika Gorica region.

Velika Gorica is located 16 km south of Zagreb (Croatia's capital) right in the centre of the 552 km2 area. The city boasts beautifully developed areas, cultivated parks and flower gardens; this has been demonstrated with numerous awards and commendations. Velika Gorica is the winner of the "Silver Flower of Europe" awarded by the European Association for Flowers and Landscape Entente Florale. The award was presented in recognition of the Turopolje region forests protection; conservation of the remains of the old Roman thermal baths Ščitarjevie (Andautonia archaeological site), restoration of the traditional the Turopolje region's architecture as well as for excellent green areas design and spatial developments. The city has also earned the prestigious "Green Flower" award for the best developed city in the continental part of Croatia; this distinction is awarded by the Croatian National Tourist Board during the Days of Croatian Tourism.

City of Velika Gorica is located in the north-western part of Croatia; this is a part of the Zagreb County (Zagrebačka županija). More than 70 entrepreneurs in the county run various rural-tourism related businesses.
