The meeting with the Kielce residents was a part of the 1st Air Ecology Congress "Antysmog" organised as a part of thr XXII International Power Industry Fair ENEX. Apart from the Kielce Mayor Bogdan Wenta, the meeting was attended by Katarzyna Kitlińska from WFOŚ and GW, who introduced the principles of the Clean Air programme to the participants gathered at the session.  Grzegorz Wnuk from the Energy Management Department of Kielce City Hall presented the Low-Altitude Emissions Reduction Program, Jan Karwiński from Municipal Heat Supply Company in Kielce presented the results related to MPEC's activities designed to limit the negative impact on the environment.

There was a list of questions posed by the residents including those regarding the current state of air and the reaction of the authorities

- There are things which are to be improved immediately.  Waste management is one of such issues.  I live in the housing estate, where the bin shelter are open. The block of flat is equipped with gas heating system, however the neighbours want to economise and they heat their apartments with the use of coal-fired ovens. In the evenings, my air purifier gets crazy because the dust particles fall in through the vents - said a resident of Bema Street.

- Floor panels, carpets or used industrial oil used as fuels pose a threat to life. Each signal must be reported to the municipal police.  Last year the municipal police carried out more than 1,100 check-ups.  The municipal police even won the trial in court with a resident who refused to pay the ticket - said Grzegorz Wnuk.
