Interview with Kamil Perz, the Director of the Trade Fair Department at Targi Kielce and long-term director of the AGROTECH project
- This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the International Fair of Agricultural Techniques AGROTECH. How has the expo developed over the years?
- Not everyone knows that AGROTECH, the event which has advanced to become a huge expo today, started in autumn in 1995 in just one exhibition hall of the Kielce exhibition and congress centre . Most of the International Fair of Agricultural Technology exhibition space was used by Agroma and its presentations of the agricultural equipment the company traded in. The expo was gradually developing, however its dynamic growth started in 2004 as the result of Poland's accession to the European Union and the first subsidies programs for the sector of agriculture. The 15th anniversary of the expo in 2009 already brought together 500 exhibitors from 13 countries and attracted 35 thousand visitors. For several years the exhibition utilises as many as 11 expo halls as the display for the expo offer. 2018’s expo was record-breaking expo when it comes to the number of visitors - over 70,000 guests called in. These facts and figures clearly demonstrate the AGROTECH huge progress. And although the expo sometimes experienced certain downs resulting from the market conditions, AGROTECH has always resented supreme level. Juxtaposed with all other events, for years this has invariably been the leader among all exhibitions focused on agricultural technology organised in exhibition halls.
- AGROTECH boasts a quarter century of history and has been the witness to transformation of Polish agriculture ...
-its It is true. In addition to history, AGROTECH has been associated with the latest technologies and technology innovations used by farmers. Let me remind you that AGROTECH is Central and Eastern Europe’s largest agricultural industry trade fair held in exhibition halls. Not everyone knows that it is also the Poland’s largest exhibition, the biggest in all sectors of the economy. Not only has this event has become the place to showcase industry latest developments, but it has been development directions trendsetter for Polish rural areas’ business sector. AGROTECH has always offered an educational and consulting aspect. Owing to continuous and excellent cooperation with agricultural institutions and organizations, the Kielce expo programme has always abounded with workshops and consultancy points.
Targi Kielce also grew stronger, boosted with the 25-year history of AGROTECH. Their infrastructure has changed and the facilities have gradually been modernised. A cutting edge E expo hall was built, then the Congress Centre, the car parks (including the multi-level one) - now we are able to accommodate as many as of 2.5 thousand vehicles. AGROTECH and the Kielce exhibition and congress centre entered the 21st century.
- What distinguishes AGROTECH among other exhibitions of this type organised in halls?
- In my opinion the fact that this is one–stop-shop expo which boasts comprehensive offer. You can find everything you need to run a modern farm - from cutting-edge technology packed tractors and machines through fertilizers, plant protection products and animal breeding equipment. Kielce expo also hosts the largest agricultural sector companies’ central units, not distributors. For many exhibitors, AGROTECH is a permanent fixture in the calendar, and a part of marketing plans. This also clearly indicates the exhibition’s standing.
- Do you not regret that after all these years of being in the managerial position of AGTOECH you pass on the baton?
- Last year I was appointed the Director of the Trade Fair Department at Targi Kielce, which is why the AGROTECH project passed on to Grzegorz Figarski, with whom I have worked for years.I supervise the development of all 75 trade fair events held at Targi Kielce, I also watch over AGROTECH. I am happy to see the next edition preparations. Me and Director Figarski look forward to seeing you in Kielce from 15 to 17 March.
- Thank you for the conversation.
