Chemical safety and security enhancement, prospect for Polish defense sector manufacturers and companies' participation in the process, resolutions regarding the forthcoming congress and expo - these were the main topics presented in the press conference
- We jointly develop the global initiative whose objective is to highlight chemical safety and security significance. Kielce is the only possible place to stage the Summit. We have a chance to facilitate chemical safety and security initiatives - the summit complemented with training sessions and the expo provide an excellent platform for the best practices exchange. - stressed Ambassador Krzysztof Paturej, ICCSS President at the press conference.
The Ambassador also informed that the Targi Kielce held from 18 to 20 April 2016 will cover three areas: transport safety; industrial environment safety (including cybersecurity); safe chemicals around us (i.e. green chemistry).
Chemicals in everyday life
In addition to chemical safety and security business-insiders sections i.e. the first and the second Summit areas, the organizers' objective is to increase general public's awareness of chemical safety and security. Thus the event also includes the third dimension focused upon education and awareness-raising. Its objective is dissemination of knowledge on ubiquity of chemicals in our every-day life and avoiding dangers associated with chemical substances.
- Our goal is a peaceful co-existence of environment and chemical substances. Barely anybody knows that there are over 100,000 chemical substances all around us. Therefore rules and standards are required, we need procedures which help us mitigate threats and dangers - explained Engineer Andrew Jagusiewicz PhD, a former Chief Inspector for Environmental Protection, now International Rrelations Director at ICCSS.
African and Ukrainian Forum
CHEMSS 2016's programme will include African and Ukrainian Forum; these are the first-time event of this kind. Both Africa and Ukraine, owing to internal political situation are important locations from the chemical safety and security viewpoint.
- Chemical industry significance continually and rapidly increased in African countries. When I talk about their rapid development I refer to increasing consumption of fuels and fertilizers. These products that can be used for making improvised explosive materials. said Philip Mibenge, the President of the Polish-African Chamber of Commerce during the conference. - Poland is a good partner for African countries. Not only is this related to the number of companies involved in chemical industry. In spite of the fact that Poland has already had good chemical safety solutions, over the past 20-25 years it has also learnt from other countries. It is better to learn from those, who enjoy a good industry standing, who have had a chance to test various solutions and cherry-pick the best ones.
The conference brought together other specialists from various industry sectors. They find chemical safety and security as well as establishment of sector-integrating body important. The initiative also boost Poland's industry development. The speakers list included Sławomir Kułakowski, President of the Polish Chamber of National Defence Manufacturers, Zbigniew Chrzanowski, coordinator of Cluster for Rescue, Safety, Civil and Environment Protection and Przemyslaw Stangierski, head of AT Kearney in Poland - a strategic partner in the for chemical safety programme development.
Targi Kielce President Andrzej Mochoń PhD emphasized the fact that there is no better place to hold a such a broad-scope congress. - We boast a vast experience in chemical and ecological topics; many Targi Kielce's events (International Defence Industry Exhibition, Edura, Plastop, Expo-Gas) incorporate these aspects. Over 20 years ago Kielce become the stage for the International Defence Industry Exhibition which has developed to become one of Europe's main defense industry events. Not only do we hope, but also set ourselves high ambitions to make CHEMSS 2016 summit and the accompanying CHEM-SAFETY-EXPO events of similar scale and recognition. And we already know that we can do it.
