Targi Kielce’s invitation for the Design Space held on 11th and 12th November

Design has become more popular in Poland as more people speak about it; design is also present in the public space; however a wide-ranging discussion shapes the design. Design Space – it a space for discussion; a chance to bring together a group of specialists who are professionally deal in design; an opportunity to speak about the present-day problems, the experience gathered until now, the ideas on how to create design. The meeting held in Targi Kielce Congress Centre will primarily focus on education in order to highlight the needs and tasks set for Polish designers and design.

Kielce is a perfect place to host such a meeting – this is the city which dynamically changes its image and the public space, Kielce is creative in using the chances it has been given. This attitude has been discerned by the World Intellectual Property Organization and Kielce was presented with the distinction in recognition of its active contribution into development of Polish design.

Creative development through infrastructure modernisation, intensification of cultural activity as well as creation of space for the present-day design is pivotal for Kielce. A whole array of innovative and creative indicatives encompasses, inter alia, establishment of the Technological Incubator or the creation of the Kielce Design Centre operating in what used to be a local prison, the Centre is the institution of international renown working in the field of design. In addition to all that Kielce is the location of the third largest trade fair and exhibition centre in Central and Eastern Europe, the Centre operates Poland’s most state-of-the-art exhibition hall of modernist shape.

The conference will be attended by Czesława Frejlich – editor in chief of 2plus3D, Ake Rudolf - DMY Festival Berlin, Hans Maier Aichen - German Design Council, Professor of Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London and Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe, Zuzanna Skalska - Senior Consultant Trend Research VanBerlo, Eindhoven, Małgorzata Szczepańska - editor in chief of Elle Decoration, Ewa Trzcionka - Design Alive, as well as the scientists representing design and industrial pattern departments of Higher Education Institutions from Gdańsk, Katowice, Krakow, Łódź, Warsaw, Wrocław and Kielce. The designer who are graduates of prestigious design schools home and abroad as well as representatives of companies will also actively participate in the meeting.

The organiser of Design Space is the City of Kielce and Design Space Kielce, the event co-organisers are Targi Kielce and Kielce Technology Park. The event has Bern granted with the Honorary patronage of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
