CONCRETE ROADS? THESE REALLY PAY OFF!

The Polish Cement Association   has always stressed that Poland needs both  bituminous and concrete roads. Polish roads find room for one and the other, only various technologies competition gives a chance to choose more robust and durable solutions and therefore build better roads. Concrete pavement are discussed at the  "Let us build concrete roads - it pays off" seminar  organized by the SPC. The session was opened with the lecture delivered by Andre Jasienski (EUPAVE); it presented European experience with regards to concrete roads. The studies show that expressway are more economical - as early as construction stage concrete surfaces are cheaper by 28.8% to 33% (depending on the road category) than similar asphalt roads. After 30 years of service life, concrete-paved express road turn out to be 54.5 to 57% cheaper (depending on the road category) in comparison to asphalt-surface roads. Participants have an insight into European and Polish experiences in construction of local roads made of cement concrete pavement.
