Eastern Poland Macroregion REVISITED

The AGROTRAVEL 2016 expo's partner region

Eastern Poland Macroregion REVISITED

Following the previous year's example, 2016'2 International Fair of Rural and Agricultural Tourism AGROTRAVEL is organised in conjunction with Eastern Poland Macroregion as the expo partner. The Region will feature Green Velo Eastern Bike Trail.

Green Velo route links five national parks and a whole array of landscape parks. In the northern part of the trail, long stretches go along embankments of disused railway lines. The trail includes the 12 "kingdoms of cycling" - these are specially marked, attractive regions. Visitors are suggested to plan a longer stay. Tourists are offered more than 100 one-day and weekend options. Cycling trips may take longer; this is an unusual, biking menu in Eastern Poland. Tourists may make use of 546 Cyclist-Friendly Spots - recommended accommodation and catering services complemented with services cut out for cycling tourists.

- The  Eastern Bike Trail enjoys a growing interest of private partners. We believe that it has been a big success to involve hoteliers, restaurateurs, owners of agritourism farms, motels and B & Bs who volunteered to co-operate; they gained the status of Cyclist-Friendly Spots. About 30 Service Points for Cyclists located at fuelling stations along the Green Velo trail are in PKN Orlen's plans. We are particularly pleased with the co-operation with well-known carriers, i.e. Przewozy Regionalne [Regional Train Haulage] and PKS Polonus bus service company.  A cooperation with Nextbike also promises to be very fruitful. At the Green Velo route, Nextbike plans to develop Poland's first self-service rental system outside urban areas in the bike & ride system. This will be used by tourists and residents - says the Eastern Poland Cycle Routes project manager - Promotion", Malgorzata Wilk-Grzywna.

The construction of the Green Velo Eastern Bike Trail has been realized within the framework of the "Eastern Poland Cycle Routes" project. The project has been realized with the involvement of the Ministry of Development, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the Marshal Offices of the: Warmia - Mazury Voivodeship, Podlasie Voivodeship, Lublin Voivodeship, Podkarpacie Voivodeship and Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship has been the promotion project beneficiary, the Regional Tourism Organization of Świętokrzyskie has been the executive partner.
