Ministry of Education

The anniversary expo exhibition brought together 80 companies: publishers, producers and distributors of educational equipment. Schools and educational institutions are also a part of the exhibition. The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Kielce City Hall and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship's Marshal Office in addition to the Superintendent's Office. Senator Krzysztof Słoń and Lucian Pietrzczyk MP were also present at the ceremony.

- For a number of years I have closely observed the expo advance; I am pleased to to join it for the third time. For publishers and distributors this is a good place to meet and to talk shop - said Tadeusz Sławecki - the Secretary of State at the Ministry of  Education upon the expo opening. - Kielce is also a meeting place for educational superintendents from all across Poland - form the sea-side to the Tatra Mountains. This is the place they feel just great.. Education Fair is much more than books, there is the abundance of teaching aids ranging from early-school education  through natural-science education, geography, technology and vocational training. Despite the crisis in book-distribution and publishers' business sector, you need to be reminded  that the primer has not been the reason for this market decline. Junior-high and senior-high pupils will still purchase textbooks, thus the market is open for publications.  The State continues to subsidise vocational education publications. Fat years for vocational education are on the horizon. Today I can officially say that the ministry has negotiated projects with the European Commission; 940 million Euros have been earmarked for, inter alia, school equipment. The main thing is the well-being of the Polish pupil.

- This is great that Education Expo has lasted out for so many years, this is the biggest event of this kind in Poland. I am honoured to chair the Program Board of the Expo. This is a great challenge for me as the situation in the publishing market is quite difficult. I am glad to hear assertions that despite the difficulties, the expo centre will continue to invest in the trade-show development. It is for the benefit of Polish education and publishing sector. I represent the latter. The Polish Chamber of Books has grated its patronage to the trade-fair - said Piotr Dobrołęcki, the Chairman of the Education Expo Programme Board. - Polish publishing sector is facing a difficulties now, yet we have to break out of this impasse. I believe that in the next year's twenty-first expo edition will see dozens of publishers.
