Within the International Exhibition of Church Construction, Church Fittings and Furnishings and Religious Art SACROEXPO the trade fair held from 18th to 20th June 2012, the F hall will be the venue for Ewa Jaworska’s exhibition of icons.
The author’s first encounter with the art of icon writing took place in 1998 during her apprenticeship in Łódź’s Powszechny Theatre when she was still a student of the State High School of Visual Arts in Łódź. It was the time she painted her first icon. Jaworska’s diploma project realised in 2003 at the Fine Arts Academy was also inspired with icons.
The diploma project “Jewellery for the painting” featured the questions of aesthetics and the role of screens made of precious metals dedicated as a decoration for the holy painting. Ever since then the icon has become the pivot of Jaworska’s artistic creation.
