GIS MEETING 2011 – important guests and crucial problems

GIS is the system of geographical data input, collection, processing and visualisation

The patronage and support provided by individuals and organisations is a&nbps;very important element in the process of GIS MEETING promotion and organisation. Owing to the support form local authorities GIS Meeting will become one of the most important events in this business sector in 2011. The group of institutions which provide heir support for the event comprises; General Directorate of Environmental Protection, Committee for Spatial Economy and Regional Planning at the Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Spatial Management and Housing, Geodesic Economic Chamber. And among the exhibitors who confirmed that they will partake in the GIS Meeting are Institute of Spatial and Cadastral Systems (ISPIK S.A) and ESRI Polska – the business sector partners of the event.

According to Jadwiga Skorbacka, the GIS coordinator in Kielce City Hall “The local governments which have introduced the Geographic Information System (GIS) and the companies which provide products which support the system need to exchange their experience in order for the systems to properly meet the legal and functional requirements set for them. And the Fair of Geographic Information Knowledge and Solutions GIS Meeting, the event organised under the auspices of Kielce Mayor creates an excellent chance for meetings, presentation of implementations and exchange of experience”.

A similar view on the necessity of conference and fairs devoted to geographic information organisation is expressed Dariusz Korpetta, the Board Member of Polish Association For Spatial Information – “This conference and exhibition, as they have been designed, will become a&nbps;good platform of knowledge and experience exchange concerning the systemic implementation of the solutions designed for public administration bodies in order for them to use geographic information in the wide range of applications”.

The Fair of Geographic Information Knowledge and Solutions is the gathering which brings together the people who no longer discuss whether GIS is worth implementing, they rather focus on how to do it in most efficient and effective way in order to meet the legal requirements and derive most maximum benefit. The GIS Meeting is organised by Targi Kielce, the exhibition centre ranked third among the Central and Eastern Europe trade fair organisers and 24GIS private partnership – the company which deals in the implementation and utilisation of GIS in self government administration.
