VIVE TARGI KIELCE – Poland’s first team to enter the Champions League quarter-finals

History in the making

Vive Targi Kielce - tworzymy historię

The Kielce team wins with Pick Szeged 32:27 and makes the history!

- Congratulations to the guys and thanks to the audiences, thanks for the match to the coach – Mr Skaliczki and the Pick Szeged team. In these matches they have proven their position in Europe. We have seemed to have too much energy and it was our problem that we have not been able to use properly the energy we have been bursting with. The Pick’s goal keepers were doing a good job; we’ve already seen it at the national representation matches. The game has been very exciting; just like the whole two-set. The atmosphere in the sports hall is marvellous and we are slowly running of seats here. We have qualified to the best”8”, a few years ago nobody would have even thought about that – said Bogdan Wenta; the yellow-whit-blue team’s coach just after the match.

The Kielce team has thus been located in the first pot before Tuesday’s draw of quarter-finals’ pairs; this pot is comprised of the first phase group winners. These will be away-teams playing their Champions League quarter-final matches. The first pot contains MKB Veszprem, FC Barcelony Intersport and HSV Hamburg; the the potential opponents of Bogdan Wenta’s team are in the second pot; and these are Atletico Madryt, Flensburg Handewitt, Metalurg Skopje and THW Kiel. Polish Champions will be playing with one of these teams to be in the Champions League Final Four.

The draw is to take place this Tuesday in Vienna at 11:00; the event is to be transmitted live on EHF TV.
