Poland is the leader in production and export of many kinds of fruit
Fruit and vegetables grown in Poland - much more then apples; we also produce many other fruit kinds. The première expo HORT-TECHNIKA is held in Kielce on 27-28 November; the exhibition will be the showcase for this diversity.
- According to the estimates, in Poland there are about 200-250 fruit production farms ,i.e. their production portfolio includes an important par based on fruit - mostly apples, pears, plums, and also soft fruit: strawberries, raspberries, currants - says Miroslaw Maliszewski - the President of the Republic of Poland Fruit-Farmers Association. - Annual production accounts for 3-3.5 million tonnes of apples; thus we are ranked third in the world. As for the other types of fruit production, we also do well.
It is worth remembering that we are the world's largest exporter of raspberries and one of the three major producers of this fruit. Poland is also a Europe's leader in the blueberries production. We stand a chance to become one of the three-top producers in the world adds president Maliszewski. - We are advancing to become one of the largest exporters of this fruit.
Considerable importance in the fruit domestic production is attached to strawberries. Although we have lost the position of the leader in favour of Spain, yet we have been steadily rebuilding our potentials. We stand a chance to regain Europe's and world's leading position.
