About kayaking, love, martial arts and life - a meeting with Krzysztof Buczyńskim
Krzysztof Buczyński has been the first person to sail across the Baltic Sea, from Sweden to Polish coasts. He crossed the sea on a folding canoe alone, without any assistance. Buczyński was the feature-star of the "Inland waterways management with regards to kayak-oriented tourism" conference held within the scope of 3 Tourism and Water Sports Expo WATER SPORTS, the event parallel to KIELCE SPORT-EXPO.
The crowd of audiences who came to the meeting had the chance to hear interesting facts from the Krzysztof's life and the expeditions he completed more than 30 years ago.
How did I hit the idea for such an expedition? Dreams, and nothing more. I wanted to live among heroes - said the canoeist - I dreamed of expeditions to distant lands. After high-school graduation I became interested in martial arts, but fighting karate trainings are a bit of fake. I needed a real fight. There was a book I was reading about a German crossed the Atlantic in a kayak. I thought - something for me. I could not afford to organize an across the ocean expedition, but the Baltic sea was not far away.
Krzysztof Buczyński also shared impressions regarding the time he had spent alone at sea, in a canoe called the "Neptun".
You can be amazed with the sea, the sunrise - recalled the traveller - however the most beautiful thing is that the brain is not distracted with numerous stimuli, it can focus on the goal only.
