Portable high vacuum and ultra-precise lasers showcased at this year's INNOTECH
This year's expo offer of the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences includes the two ultra innovative products: portable measuring chamber - a transport suitcase for samples stored in ultra high vacuum conditions as well as an ultra-precise industrial laser materials micro-machining.
A suitcase with vacuum inside
Advanced technologies development may need samples to be transported in a ultra-high vacuum environment. For example plates or semiconductors. Construction of commercially available vacuum suitcases requires the sample to be transferred into a special device. The vacuum case from the PAS IPC, owing to its in-built sight-glasses is the only case that enables testing of optical properties, chemical composition and samples thickness when placed in the case. Thus infrared or visible light spectroscopy and ellipsometry are possible. The case construction makes it possible to mount it in a spectrophotometer as well as vacuum chamber connection so that the sample can be transferred to another apparatus without contact with atmospheric air. The invention should be of particular interest for companies and research institutions which deal in semiconductors and physical, chemical and biological surface- study whenever the highest sample purity is required. The unique design has been developed in cooperation with PREVAC LLC.
Laser cutting
PAS IPC is only one in Poland's institution to offer femto and picosecond lasers in the industry standards with wavelengths ranging from ultraviolet to infrared. These lasers will be exhibited PAS' expo stand at the upcoming INNOTECH edition. Extremely short laser pulses allow for precise materials cutting and surface structuring, while maintaining particularly high quality of the edges. Micro pinholes can be made in all materials, including those difficult for conventional treatment such as hardened glass, ceramics and crystalline structures (sapphire and others). Lasers from the IPC PAS are characterized with a high average power, which translates into increased productivity. They may be used in medicine, photovoltaics, automotive industry and consumer electronics. In addition to the lasers, the Institute also offers diagnosis tools and complete workstations.
