This year's  Hackathon  edition was the competition for teams composed of programmers, graphic designers and analysts. Supported by experienced mentors  the teams were supposed to  develop solutions designed to improve the life quality in the city. They all had 40 hours slots to do so.  The pupils, students and start-ups were all in -  the best applications and ideas were assessed and rewarded by the interdisciplinary Jury Panel.

The event winners have created the "EDUTrash" application designed to help segregate waste by scanning the bar code on the product packaging.  The award-winning projects pool included applications for carbon footprint calculation and car-sharing  options with ecological aspects on board.

Other interesting solutions were also created in the course of the project: "Light Mobile Charger X" - a mobile charger powered by solar panels,  "Bio-knights" - application in the form of an educational game project for waste segregation and the  "CK Voting" - application - a virtual map for submitting proposals for the city changes with the voting options for citizens to choose from among previously submitted proposals.

The largest Kielce HEI, private companies, mentors and officials joined the event organisation.  The awards for participants were sponsored by Asseco Poland,  MGGP Aero and Idea Kielce. Participants also received awards and prizes from other companies, and among them: Smart Factor,  Globtrack Polska LLC,   and  BritenetŚwiętokrzyskie Local Fund  which founded scholarships for selected teams’ members.

This year's  event was an enhancement to the Urban Policy Congress and thus was an excellent opportunity to show the city's potential in modern technologies.

The event has been one of the projects co-financed by the European Union under the Technical Assistance Operational Program 2014-2020.
