MSPO MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO MEET THE FAMOUS ASTRONAUT

The youth listened to the  International Defence Industry Exhibition guest's stories with great interest. Colonel Alfred Merril Worden mentioned that colonization of subsequent Solar System planets is very important. Students asked questions about the conditions in space in addition to many other questions.

- We lived by the Houston time,  when they worked down there in Houston, we also worked. When NASA staff went to sleep, we also had a chance to rest.  In space, however, resting is completely different - said Colonel Worden.

Questions about the time differences between Earth and space were also asked.  The astronaut said that thanks to the 1971 trip he is 0.2 seconds younger. The students were also interested in knowing what was the happiest moment of the 13-day mission.

- Our spacecraft was the size of a VW Beetle. The happiest moment was when my colleagues David Randolph Scott and James Benson Irwin left the module and I was left alone - the colonel joked. The 26 July - 7 August 1971 expedition purpose was to take samples for research and create photographic material of the Earth’s satellite’s surface appearance.

The International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO  continues until 7 September.  Saturday marks the Open Day.
