On 4th September, during the 20th International Defence Industry Exhibition the cooperation agreement for construction of a new small arms factory was concluded. It is to be built by the Regional Development Agency S.A., and the Bumar Group. It is assessed that this is the investment of about 100 million PLN.
- We have already acquired an investment lot at the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone – sub-zone Radom. We already have the design as well as the construction permit – explains the president of the Fabryka Broni Łucznik (Radom Arms Factory LLC Archer) Tomasz Nita – and we are about to commence the tendering procedure for the main contractor and we hope to see the construction completed at the break of the first and second quarter of 2014.
The investment programme encompass construction of the company’s new headquarters as well as implementation of new products; with the 5,56 millimetre base-carbine of the small arms modular system as the leading product. The business venture is financed by the Radom Arms Factory LLC Archer and the Ministry of Treasury (around 19 million PLN) – we will also try to acquire European Union funds.
The Archer company of Radom employs 400 people; the number of employees will not chance according tot the president’s declaration. In 2011 the company recorded the highest revenue for the 5-year period with the amount reaching 2 million PLN. The contract portfolio for 2012 is also record breaking and accounts for 50 million PLN.
The present day factory sit is to be sold. For the moment the Mazowieckie Marshal’s Office and the Industry Development Agency have come up with the idea of the entrepreneurship incubator to be located at the site.
Krzysztof Krystowski – the president of Bumar Group and Ryszard Kardasz - th president of Bumar Soldier Division (Archer is the part of Bumar Soldier) signed the contract on behalf of Bumar. The Industry Development Agency was represented by its president Wojciech Dąbrowski.
The contract signing ceremony is one of many events which accompany the MSPO defence industry exhibition. The Bumar Group presented its strategy for the years 2013 – 2018 on the same day. The Defence Industry Exhibition turns out to be much more than just the showcase for the cutting edge achievements of the sector – says the organiser of the MSPO show - Targi Kielce President of Board Andrzej Mochoń PhD. Every exhibition edition also encompasses a ceremony in which contracts crucial for Poland’s defence sector are signed. In 20122 it was the allay of the leading representative of the industry – the Bumar Group and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation.
