At this year’s MSPO,  security equipment specialists, BCB International Ltd, will be displaying a device which enables security teams to intercept, entrap and disable fast vessels used in narcotics trafficking, piracy or terrorist acts without using deadly force.

UK-based BCB International Ltd has developed the Buccaneer Lightweight Interceptor (BUC LWI) – a system which uses compressed air and interchangeable barrels to project floating entanglement lines and other vessel disabling projectiles. BCB’s spokesperson, Philippe Minchin, said: “Ports, harbours and rivers are vital for World Trade.  Criminal acts like trafficking, violent demonstrations and terrorism now makes the picture faced by security teams responsible for securing coastal and riverine waters more complex and unpredictable. BUC LWI is the ideal solution. The BUC LWI is an ideal non-lethal solution because it can fit on vessels used by security teams and stop in its tracks a suspicious vessel travelling up to 40 knots without the unnecessary loss of life.

At the D90 exhibition stand the visitors to the  MSPO  will be able to see for themselves an inflatable body armour system which is proving extremely popular with Navies and Coastguards worldwide. Their inflatable body armour system automatically inflates within seconds of being immersed in water. The life jacket is located under the body armour which means that it will inflate even when the body armour has been impacted by several rounds.
