PLASTPOL featuring a whole array of novelties

Hydraulic oil which helps to economise, not only on energy consumption

Hydraulic fluids offer numerous, yet underestimated advantages. The Häfner & Krullmann Company has been using the Mobil DTE 10 Excel hydraulic oil which has resulted in a longer service life of their injection moulding machines and decreased energy consumption. A long serviceability of the oil as well as of the whole system is provided not only by its high pump efficiency but also by its filtering ability, good air release properties and a high viscosity index.

Häfner & Krullmann is Europe’s foremost producer of plastic spools; the company also assists its clients at the design and construction phase so as to find a perfect solution which best serves its purpose. Hydraulic system failures caused a faster machine element wear back in the 90’s; this brought about a series of test and examinations performed in conjunction with moulding machine producers - Krauss Maffei, filter manufacturers as well as hydraulic fluid vendors such as ExxonMobil. The engineers found a direct correlation between machine wear and the quality of hydraulic fluid and hydraulic oil filtering ability.

Machines which run on ExxonMobil have demonstrated a minimal level of deposit build-up; problems with a delayed injection have also been eliminated. Machines’ most costly components such as pumps, actuators and servo valves have increased their service life up to 60 thousand working hours. This all has resulted in less frequent failures of hydraulics systems which in turn translates into lower costs. The new formula of the Mobil DTE 10 Excel hydraulic fluid has also had a positive impact on energy efficiency.

And there is much more to it than energy consumption reduction; the oil’s pump efficiency, its filtering ability, good air release properties, coagulation resistance and demulsification qualities need to be considered too. It has been observed that the oil work time has increased and filter service life has doubled; at the same time we have been able to economise on energy consumption by 2 or 3 percent – says one of the Häfner & Krullmann engineers.
