PRESIDENT OF BOARD AT TARGI KIELCE AT AN EXCEPTIONAL MEETING IN ESTONIA

The award presentation ceremony was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tallinn, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland,  Robert Filipczak PhD.

- I am really touched.  A simple sinner finds a great consolation when his work gains recognition  -  said  Arvo Pärt - Especially when the Holy Church recognises the works.  However ... one must not be afflicted with hubris.  Because hubris and arrogance are the biggest poison of the world. This is the root of all evil.  Arrogance arises without us noticing.  In fact this is a kind of "spirit's cancer".  I am saying this because young people often cannot understand how dangerous it is to revel in recognition, to claim all the credits to themselves.  Therefore when the Holy Church has bestowed me this honour, I beg the Church to pray for being able to "assimilate" this award.  Eventually, this is the greater recognition for the Church rather than for me- he added.

Arvo Pärt was honoured the Per Artem Ad Deum medal in 2016. However, he could not participate in the awarding ceremony held every year in Targi Kielce.

- We greatly appreciate when the laureates of the Per Artem Ad Deum Medal can partake in the event in person and receive this special distinction - says Andrzej Mochoń PhD, Targi Kielce President of Board. - When this very special accolade, i.e. the Per Artem Ad Deum Medal is bestowed to a unique personality, the authority in their field, meeting the laureate in person is a true honour.  Therefore instead of posting the accolade, we followed the Ambassador's invitation. The embassy's hospitality made it possible to present the medal personally." he adds.
