Poland is famous for carp, with the annual output of about 20,000
Świętokrzyskie carp were displayed at the Local Fishery Group "Świętokrzyskie Carp" from Rytwiany. The Group president Wacław Szczoczarz talked about farming procedures during the first Inland Fisheries Congress held parallel to the exhibition.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the carp are the main fish species in Polish aquaculture. In our country there are about 400 carp farms, these supply fish for food as well as for stocking. Carp ponds are concentrated in complex, which cover the area of several thousands hectares. Out of over 70 thousand ha, about 75 percent is used. The southern and central provinces enjoy the largest concentration of carp ponds.
The first Inland Fisheries Congress in Kielce brought together over 200 stakeholders from across Poland.
