ŚWIĘTOKRZYSKIE MOUNTAINS HISTORY WRITTEN IN VERSE

HISTORY OF MY MOUNTAINS SERIOUSLY AND JOKINGLY  written in the morning, around half past four" volume is a collection of poetry written by geologist Jerzy Wójtowicz. The Kielce inhabitant publishes his verse collection about the beloved Świętokrzyskie [Holy Cross] Mountains. Now a pensioner, Wójtowicz resolved to describe what he used to do during his professional career, hence the geological history of the local mountains.

Almost a year ago I wrote a poem about the first rock-forming movements in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship  and I showed it to my friend, also geologists. After reading, she suggested that I should describe the whole Świętokrzyskie Mountains history.  At first I thought she was crazy,  having read 50-60 publications, I started writing. And that's how the volume of poems about the Świętokrzyskie Mountains was created -  says Jerzy Wójtowicz.

The author presents the history of the creation of many known places in the Świętokrzyskie Province, including the  Paradise Cave. Jerzy Wójtowicz describes his beloved places in a very accessible way, thus which reading is not only pleasant, but also interesting,  the names of the poems intrigue and intensify curiosity. They arouse interest about the place the author describes.   The book makes us learn the genesis of: Wiśniówka, Bardo-Stawy, Bukowa Góra, Zachełmie reserve, Ślichowice reserve, the previously mentioned Paradise Cave and many other nature treasures.  It is worth noting that thanks to the glossary which includes difficult terms we are able to learn about the given places, and also deepen our knowledge of geology.

The history of the Świętokrzyskie Province’s landmarks should be popular among Kielce inhabitants thus Targi Kielce decided to support the local patriot and excellent writer. The author presented difficult geological facts in an accessible way.  Jerzy Wójtowicz thanked the sponsors at the beginning of the volume. Targi Kielce finds it a great honour to be one of them.

We invite you to meet the author- Jerzy Wójtowicz on 30 August 2019 at 16:30 in the Provincial Public Library in Kielce.
