The exhibition and congress centre stands a chance to be appointed the global climate summit operator under the PLN 100 million contract

- The event is held from 3 to 14 December 2018 in Katowice's Spodek Hall. As many as 40,000 participants from nearly 200 countries may participate in the event, according to the estimates. Heads of government and ministers responsible for environmental and climate issues are among the guests - says Dr. Andrzej Mochoń, President of Targi Kielce. - The COP24 organization is an immense logistic challenge therefore the project implementation requires a highly experienced team. Therefore the invitation to cooperate with us has been addressed at the companies that have already proven their capacities preparing global level congresses. Among them there are those that participated in the NATO Summit, UNESCO conferences and World Youth Days organization.
Targi Kielce has already covered the two stages of negotiations. Another meeting is to be held at the Ministry of the Environment in the coming days. Targi Kielce competes with two other companies, including the Poznań Fair which has already been responsible for the climatic summit logistics in Poland twice.
The invitation to negotiate and recognition of Targi Kielce as an important business partner at par with other experienced companies should be considered a success. Kielce exhibition and congress centre competes to win the 100+ million contract. - Our potential as well the experience in international events organisation have been appreciated. The International Defence Industry Exhibition, ranked third in Europe after Paris and London exhibitions are among these - believes President Andrzej Mochoń.
In addition to over 25 years of experience in MSPO organisation - the event which brings together gathers hundreds of international exhibitors and visitors every year (in 2017 it was nearly 40,000 people), the centre has co-organized othe events of global significance, such as the global Chemical Safety and Security Congress CHEMS.
Targi Kielce has repeatedly participated in the organization of European-level meetings not only those staged in the Kielce exhibition and congress centre . In 2016, at the PGE National Stadium Targi Kielce was the operator of Europe most important conferences on scientific research in transport - TRA-Transport Research Arena.
In its portfolio, the centre boasts the fact that it has co-organised the Air Show in Radom (the originator of the idea was the President of Targi Kielce Andrzej Mochoń). The cooperation with the Air Force Command resulted in the fact that Poland’s most impressive air shows which featured aircraft acrobatics champions from around the globe was held in Radom. The shows attracted over 100,000 people.
The COP24 Summit is the most important international event in Poland in 2018. Decisions taken during the conference will be the guidelines for global policy regarding sustainable development for the coming years. The implementation of specific measures will be negotiated in Katowice. The COP session is accompanied with numerous scientific, social and commercial events which are the presentation and ideas exchange forum and discussion platform for innovations, strategies and solutions on how to combat global warming.
The COP24 president is the Minister of Environmental Protection, Michał Kurtyka. He will also chair the Polish Presidency in the global climate negotiations. In accordance with the UN climate convention procedures, the President temrs of office begins on the first day of the COP24 summit, i.e. on December 3, 2018. Poland will take over the annual presidency in the UN climate negotiations process.
Targi Kielce finds participation in the competition to win such a prestigious contract a great opportunity to gain experience and finance for further investment and development. It is also the way to promote the city of Kielce – the owner of the exhibition and congress centre. The event may become a springboard to the European league of event operators. The decision regarding the choice of the operator is to be announced mid-August.
