The replica of Lotus Seven is a light, two-seat sports car of an easy construction; the vehicle is produced by the British Lotus company. Owing to its construction and qualities it is offer referred to as “a four-wheeled motorcycle”. Good acceleration and road handling is characteristic for each car version. The vehicle has a really low, flat and small sized windscreen as well as a special body shape which makes it a low air-resistance construction.
Production of the first version of Lotus Seven was launched in 1957; at that time the 40 horsepower Ford Sidevalve engines of 1172 cm3 capacity were used. The successor; Lotus Seven Series 2 followed in 1960, the Series 3 started to come off the assembly line in 1968. In 1970 Lotus introduced its Series 4 which featured a different body shape and constriction; however this version was not to the clients’ tastes.
In 1973 Lotus resolved to cease the production of kit-cars and to concentrate on new, more advanced models. On of the Lotus dealers – the Caterham Cars company acquired the rights for the Seven model construction (however they were not granted the rights to use the name Lotus). Since 1973 the Caterham Cars has continued the production of the Seven refined versions based on their own designs and with their own Caterham label.
A great number of Lotus replicas have been produced all over the world owing to the fact that the vehicle has a simple concept and construction.
