The most popular sports people – the finals of the 2011 Sport Popularity Contest

Vive Targi Kielce team enjoyed the greatest esteem among the Echo Dnia daily readers who voted in the Sport Popularity Contest. Marcus Cleverly, the goal keeper was triumphant among sports people; for the forth time Bogdan Wenta gained the accolade the in the category of coaches.

The voters also recognised Sandra Drabik’s last year’s successes in kick-boxing and box; Sandra and Marcus were going neck and neck before the plebiscite end; finally she was the runner-up. Rastko Stojkovic scored the third step of the podium winning the Kielce inhabitants over. The race-car driver Michał Sołowow, the triathlon athlete Jarosław Olech, as well as Korona Kielce football players and Fart Kielce volleyball players also gained recognition in the contest.

The 60th, anniversary Sports Popularity Contest– Swietokrzyskie Sport Stars was crowned with the gala held in Targi Kielce; the function was attended by over 500 people. These were the sports people and coaches from all over the Voivodeship accompanied by Members of Parliament, self-government representatives of the Voivodeship and its towns as the gala also featured the presentation of the winners in the county editions of the contests.

Following the previous years’ example the plebiscite chapter also awarder honorary accolades. Bertus Servaas, the President of Vive Targi Kielce pronounced the Swietokrzyskie Sport Ambassador.

The Sport Hope of 2011 is Katarzyna Furmanek, the Distinguished Swietokrzyskie Sport Activist is Ryszard Mikurda. Special distinctions were presented to Stanisław Bobkiewicz in recognition of his work for EURO 2012 and Swietokrzyskie football and to Witold Szproch; the owner of WiR Łopuszno meet processing plant, for his many-year support of sport in Swietokrzyskie region.
