The autumn's Light Aviation Expo is on the rise The trade-show's exhibitors list includes more and more interesting offers.
Until now, the University Aviation Club of Poznan University of Technology members have taken part in SAE Aero Design competitions every year and were very successful. This year they decided to go one step further and try their hand at the AUVSI SUAS 2017. In comparison to SAE Aero Design, not only are they required to design and construct an aircraft - they also face the task of equipping it with a surveillance optical head and the cargo-dump system at a predefined ground location. The plane is a 100% autonomous in the mission.
The aircraft has been designed in a pusher-configuration and dual-tail beam . The carbon sandwich — aramid honeycomb wings with a carbon girder and the 4 m span with an extension factor of 20, semi-eliptical projection. The hull - 2 m long, carbon-rohacell sandwich with structural elements: carbon panels - honeycomb: aramid. Carbon-fibre coated control-surfaces with extruded polystyrene foam core.
Performance:
• cruise speed: 80 km/h
• maximum speed: 115 km/h
• stalling speed (with flaps): 45 km/h
• excellence: 25
• range: 120 km (90 min. flight)
take-off weight: 18 kg (electric motor), 25 kg (exhaust engine).
