The S74 road through Kielce

The open to the public meeting for all those interested in the construction concept of S74 fast road and in particular the section form the Niewchlów junction to the Świętokrzyska crossroad and junction will be held on 12th April at 5 pm in the Targi Kielce Conference Centre.

The gathering is organised by the initiative of Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad (General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways GDDKiA). The designing company will be presenting the two variants of the 5-kilometre section; its aim is to facilitate the local traffic separation from the transit traffic and thus to increase the flow capacity of the streets and to create non-collision junctions. The investor – Kielce division of GDDKiA is willing to learn about the Kielce inhabitants’ opinions on the two variants of the road. These opinions will become an indispensable part of the investment environment impact report; the report is essential to submit the application for environmental approval. This approval will be the basis for the final variation selection.

The new investment, which will apply to Łódzka, Jesionowa, Świętokrzyska streets, assumes the construction of the two-lane fast toad and the network of byroads required for the local traffic. The most modern noise-protection barriers and comfortable communication between the north and south of the city via the existing street network have also been designed.

In the first road variant of S74 course through Kielce it is assumed that the new junctions of Hubalczyków and Zagnańska streets will be constructed, there will be the overpasses at the level of Transportowców and Olszewskiego streets. In this variant the 74 road section for transit traffic will lead in a few hundred-metre excavated cut from Zalew (the water reservoir) to Świętokrzyska street. Klonowa, Toporowskiego, Warszawska streets will run at the present level and above the fast road pit.

The other variant assumes the construction of the junctions at the level of Olszewskiego i Zagnańska streets and the overpasses at Transportowców and Hubalczyków streets. In this variant the fast road section between Zalew Świętokrzyska street and will run on the trestle bridge. Klonowa, Toporowskiego, Warszawska streets will run under this fly-over.

During the meeting the participants will have the chance to become familiar with the two variants of the new road and pose their questions to the investor. After the meeting motions and opinions in writing may be submitted. The information will be carefully analysed. The investment is the part of the Road Construction Programme to be implemented after 2013.
