Thunderstruck MSPO herald

The oak which grows in the neighbourhood of the exhibition centre fell victim to the storm

It seems that the International Defence Industry Exhibition plays a significant role also in the world of nature. During today’s thunderstorm which was rolling over the city the thunder struck straight into the heart of the oak which grows in the back yard of the exhibition pavilions.

The Targi Kielce centre is busy place swarming with preparations for MSPO. The event which attracts guest from all over the world has had a very unique prelude; when the fierce tempest was rolling on the sky a huge oar tree growing next to the Targi Kielce exhibition hall was thunderstruck right in the middle. The oak has a symbolic meaning; the tree represents power and might – and this incident may have a figurative meaning here. The oak tree on fire jest a few days before the MSPO launch may be the prophecy of real “storm” in the world of defence we are going to witness pretty soon.

Every year the International Defence Industry Exhibition is the showcase for a few hundred exhibitors – this year there will be 400 of them. MSPO prestige and considerable significance in this business sector are also demonstrated by the presence of the official government delegations form all over the world. The position of the exhibition has been stable for years – this is the largest event of this kind in Central Europe and the third largest in whole Europe, just after Paris and London exhibitions. The trust both the exhibitors and the guests place upon the Exhibition was demonstrated two years ago when the fire destroyed some of the exhibition halls. The exhibitors’ forbearance and cooperation made it possible to open the exhibition according to the schedule; it also developed the belief that MSPO would be gaining strength with each consecutive edition.
