Try walking in tram driver’s shoes

The Transexpo trade fair showcases market novelties as well as a historical tram cab of the 1960’s

The International Fair of Public Transport TRANSEXPO commences in less than a week; the expo celebrates its 10th anniversary. In the D hall there will be a cab of a historical 102N tram put on display. The 102N represents the whole series of trams produced from 1967 to 1969 by Konstal works in Chorzów. The 102N is the direct descendant of the Konstal 13N tram in an articulated version. The alterations were introduced to the controller and the switch gear as well as to the tram’s front and back – 102N had thus become more angular if compared with the previous version. Large wind shields offered the tram driver a perfect field of vision. However the shield was inclined at the negative angle; flash lights reflections dazzled the tram operator as well as other drivers who approached from the opposite direction. This had caused the constructors to rework the tram body; a new Konstal 102Na was thus designed.

The simulator has been leased for this occasion from the MPK Wroclaw; it has been brought over to Kielce by the Railway Vehicle Association. The Association’s objective is to promote railway transport and to organise railway-related events. They also facilitate transport of event attendants of Przystanek Woodstock (the Woodstock Station Festival), The Era New Horizons Festival, The International Beer Stock Exchanges, Steam Locomotive Show in Wolsztyn etc. In conjunction with the PKP Group, the Association holds the Public Transport Days in Wroclaw and the Days of Railwaymen.
