The National Board of Rural Youth Association is the institution behind the idea as well as the initiator of the National Olympics of Young Agricultural Producers. For a number of years the competition has generated an avid interest among young people who are interested in agro-business. They present their vast theoretical knowledge and its practical application. This is also a chance to expand their professional expertise, knowledge and broaden their experience which in turn translates into Polish agriculture development. The objective of the consecutive editions of the Olympics have been, inter alia:
• Development of creative interest in young agricultural producers; • To foster the ambitions to continue professional development; • Experience exchange and good practices transfer; • Agricultural achievement popularisation. The Olympics is open for young agricultural producers as well as for students who are owners or or co-owners of a farm. The age limit is from 17to 40 years old.
Following the example of previous years the Olympics has been run in three phases designed to select the best of the best; it all started with a School Phase followed by Voivodeship Finals and the strict National Finals held during the first day of the AGROTECH trade fair. The qualifying round brought together 1500 contestants; 80 of them were selected for the national finals. Ten finalists were presented with cups and accolades, the main laurel – the Minister’s Cup was presented to the winner Robert Kujaczyński.
The Rural Youth Association has been a great supporter of Polish agriculture, following the EU motto they bet on young, innovative and competitive people. Thus the Olympics is held under the banner of "Youth, Innovativeness, Competitiveness".
The laureates of previous editions are now one of the best producers in Poland. Their expertise and experience gained in the preparation for the qualifying round has also helped them to find their way in agricultural development.
