EASTERN POLAND: GREAT OPPORTUNITIES AND GREAT PROSPECTS

Eastern Poland saw nearly 28,000 EU funds-supported projects with the total value of more than 112 billion PLN, 65.4 million PLN account for EU contribution.  The program resulted in creation or expansion of industrial, science and technology parks and business incubators.  With OP DEP roads quality and public transport have improved, market-entrant companies gained support.

 - We are meeting in Targi Kielce and this comes as no coincidence.  The expo centre is a special venue cut out and designed for entrepreneurs.  There you can actually measure economic recovery. Number of exhibitors increases or decreases demonstrate the program effectiveness  - said Minister Maria Wasiak at the conference opening.

The "Eastern Poland today and tomorrow" conference encompasses the two objectives:  a summary of the first programme stage with the implementation period of 2007-2013 and discussion on the next seven years' prospects.  The two-day event held on 14 and 15 October brings together specialists, entrepreneurs, representatives of local government, foreign investors. They discuss the changes Eastern Poland has undergone as well as actions required to transform this macro-region in n order for it to be at par with European economy.

The idea behind the conference is to develop Eastern Poland Development Programme related actions for the coming years.  Minister Schetyna and Minister Wasiak right after the conference opening and the press conference, along with foreign guests from Switzerland and Canada et.al. proceeded their visit within the framework of the Investment Forum. As Minister Schetyna said -  We want to show our guests the Kielce Technology Park, Kielce University of Technology, the UJK Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business - these are European level examples of modernity.
