More than 1,000 square meters of the exhibition space at the Expo of Technologies & Equipment for Education will also be a display for several interactive floors, including those from Funtronic. This innovative products has been discussed in the interview with Mr Piotr Treszczotko, Funtronic Deputy President of Board
Targi Kielce What is Funtronic's business profile?
Peter Treszczotko: We became market player in Poland and Europe two years ago. We offer innovative solutions for of education, rehabilitation and play. Now we have successfully marketed a Magic Carpet, however various types of innovation in different areas are in the scope of our interest. Therefore we are a truly innovative company.
T.K.: You have mentioned the Magic Carpet - can you describe the product?
PT: The Magic Carpet is a multimedia projection device comprised of a projector and motion sensors. Practically this is a compact unit that can be used to display multimedia images on the floor or a table, so that an ordinary floor, table or student's desk become interactive devices. Therefore the Magic Carpet use is really broad. It can be used in education, rehabilitation, with pupils with learning disabilities, in advertising as well as basic for sports and play - it offers various types of innovative solutions and games.
When it comes to education, the appliance offers a multitude of options. Firstly, it may be used in early school or kindergarten education, it could be easily applied for revalidation and special needs education and even with rehabilitation, support treatment of children and the elderly. The latter is evidenced in Europe. We have worked with the Dutch Active Cues involved in education and rehabilitation of the elderly. They use our devices in the form of interactive tables. These are aids in the process of eliminating the senile dementia effects. Schools and kindergartens find numerous applications for our device. The advantage is that this multimedia tool is safe. It even offers health-promotion unlike what is a general opinion about the media. The Magic Carpet work is based on movement-related fun, which is quite natural for children. Movement is also necessary for children's proper development. A games packages for the Magic Carpet has been designed so that a child is not alienated from the real world as it is the case of the virtual world. In fact, learning and fun based are based on the virtual impulse. The rest of the process is carried continues on an ordinary floor, with the child's peers and therefore happens in the real world. The child does not enter deep into the virtual world.
The Magic Carpet can be used in the whole educational process, starting from the moment when a child comes into the facility, before classes, during classes, during breaks between classes and after school. Before and after classes the set can be used in schools' common rooms. This is the time for children to spend free time in a pleasant was and at the same learn and refresh newly acquired knowledge. The Magic Carpet can also serve as a teaching aid used during breaks at school hallways. Teachers can easily arrange idle-time exercises and activities; instead of leaning against walls students spend time in an active and safe way and engage in quizzes. And believe me - no mobile phones needed! JJ
T.K.: How did you hit idea of this education-supporting solution?
PT: There have been the two factors. First and foremost, our company is comprised of the people who boast a very extensive experience in the education market. Among us there are people who used to manage educational projects or companies. We have had enough time to delve into the heart and matter of education. We have also born in mind the changes and revolution that have taken place in this area. We also have had the opportunity to become familiar this area from inside-out. In particular we examined the aspects that have seemed unsolvable, for example unused computer class-rooms, dangers associated with multimedia as the source of alienation. On the other hand, our team of engineers has been involved in numerous educational events, including those in Europe. A few years ago we came across an interactive floor. We analysed the idea and found out that this may be a good response to the educational needs the way no one has ever thought about. We have been first I to find out how this multimedia solution can be transferred to the educational market. This resulted in a lengthy work - we started from scratch, the prototype creation was a difficult process itself. The idea turned out to be a real hit. We have created the Magic Carpet - a response to the unresolved problems of the Polish education which comes at an affordable price. The market's feedback was positive. Today we can observe competitors, this copy-cat activity is nice and and exhausting at the same time. On the one hand, it is nice that others are attracted and want to copy our idea, but on the other hand it is tiring because we have to be front runners, keep on leap in the future ....
T.K.: We can reveal that the Magic Carpets are the highlights of this year Education Expo in Kielce .
PT: The Magic Carpets are set in different locations of Targi Kielce's exhibition hall. We would like to show how the Carpet works in their natural environment. We do not want keep in in expo stands' perimeter, we want to show that the Magic Carpet can be used virtually anywhere, on any surface, even in places which have not seen the benefits of such a solution.
The expo scope is related to education, but we want to show that the Magic Carpet boasts a wide range of applications. The games packages on show is associated with education. However we also want to focus on the Magic Carpet use in a typical marketing situations, e.g. in advertising. This experience has been designed to show how people can have fun and at the same time participate in an advertising campaign.
T.K.: Why do you think it is worth visiting Targi Kielce and your stand from 5 to 7 October?
PT: We try to take part in trade fairs. We want to reach the widest possible audience and prospective partners. We choose events that are consistent with our strategy and business activities. We keep our fingers crossed for your Expo we have resolved to participate in an active way. We hope that this format will be a good beginning to a series of educational events in Kielce. We would like to take part every year. Meetings are important for us because we have a chance to get feedback from all those who try and test our device. On the other hand we have the occasion to show its capabilities. I am convinced that Expo of Technologies & Equipment for Education offers a wide range of interesting offers and products worth seeing. This will be a large dose of knowledge on how to manage education in effective way.
