PTTK CONFERENCE AT THE KIELCE BIKE-EXPO

"- This conference goes very well in line the general theme of the  KIELCE BIKE-EXPO. We will be truly pleased if this conference will also be part of the next year's  jubilee   edition of the largest bicycle fair in Central and Eastern Europe. "- said Bożena Staniak, President of Targi Kielce who officially opened the meeting.

The conference program was filled with substantive discussions and the speakers’ inspiring presentations.

The first part of the meeting was devoted to investments in bike landscape and their impact on development cycling recreation tourism.

The second session focused on good and bad practices  in  cycling . The global standards and the national reality of urban and tourist infrastructure were also discussed.  Mr. Marcin Jackowski from the Zielone Mazowsze ecological organization talked about the  CROW   bicycle routes  five requirements (i.e. cohesion, immediacy, security, convenience and attractiveness).  The question of how the cycling landscape of Poland  has changed  over the last five years was addressed by Rafał Polaszek from IBOMBO - the company which specialises in the bicycles self-service repairs stations development.

Cooperation between cities and communes with entrepreneurs is very important for attractive infrastructure for cyclists  development.  The session three of the conference addressed this very topic.    Electric bikes  - a temporary fab or a revolution and a future trend in  cycling - Tomasz Przygucki from TrybEco Lódź spoke about e-booster bikes in today’s world. Mr. Tomasz Merk from Szczecinek City Transport Authority and Mr. Filip Bielecki from Comdrev Public Bicycles System presented the example of a multimodal transport system in Szczecinek - a combination of  bicycle and bus transport schemes.

Discussions focused on development directions  of Polish  bicycle landscape  and what  cyclists- friendly commune of your dreams should look like.

The meeting was also the presentation arena for municipalities which have received the Commune of Friendly certificate:  the longest  bicycle trail  in Silesia Leśno-Rajza, as an example of good cooperation between municipalities - discussed by Mr. Klaudiusz Kandzia, Mayor of Kalety. Arkadiusz Bednarek from the Murowana Goślina commune told the listeners why it it worth becoming a bicycle-friendly commune.
