According to the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) ranking, in 2016  Poland was ranked 38th with regards cleanliness and environment quality. Finland was ranked first.  EPI indicator reflects efficiency of environmental protection measures introduced in the 180 countries as well as the environment quality in these countries. 20 indicators were taken into account. They come in nine categories, including air quality, potable water access, wastewater treatment method, waste management, forestation and the share of coal in energy generation.

It is difficult to judge whether 38 position in the ranking is good or whether we should worry.  We certainly should keep investing in municipal waste management system improvements, with the strongest focus on municipalities.   The conference organised within the scope of the Targi Kielce's International Environmental Protection and Waste Management Expo EKOTECH  on 30 March has been designed to support this objective.

"Contemporary Municipal Waste Management in Communes" focuses on waste management system in the municipality - a local government body whose significance for the ecosystem cannot be overestimated.

The meeting will discuss issues related to waste management related legal regulations, public procurement procedures. Waste segregation, handling specific types of waste like asbestos, out-of-service electric and electronic equipment, construction waste, green cuts, bulky-size waste will also be discussed. The conference will raise the question of ready are municipalities to disseminate environmental knowledge.

The speakers list includes specialists and experts involved to increase this sector's effectiveness.

The conference is organized by Municipal Services Management Office of the City of Kielce in conjunction with Targi Kielce.
