The Forum at Chemss 2016 in Targi Kielce
Ukraine, with its complicated, internal political situation and military operations in the eastern districts, is an extremely important part of the world with regards to chemical safety and security. It comes as no surprise that the Ukrainian Forum has been held during the Global Chemical Safety and Security Summit in Targi Kielce; the gathering has brought together numerous stakeholders.
Improper security level of Ukraine's chemical industry has encouraged the initiative to create the Integrated Chemical Safety and Security Program (ICSSP) in Ukraine in December 2014. The initiative originators are: OSCE, UN, ICCSS and Association of Chemists of Ukraine (UCU). The initiative is the response to the serious threats posed by disintegration of the chemical industry in the east of Ukraine and therefore inadequate control level of chemical activities. This has a negative impact on Ukraine's internal security and impacts neighbouring countries' safety. The ICCSP program is promoted by the OSCE within the framework of the G7 Global Partnership. The Chemical Safety and Security Program (ICSSP) in Ukraine this is to lay the foundations for the rescue and emergency response system and critical infrastructure protection schemes in Ukraine which comply with EU standards.
- Introduction of uniform chemical safety and security regulations with regards to transit of dangerous goods will enhance safety and security as well as will minimize risks. This is a necessity. - said Olexandr Sadovský of the Ukrainian Chemists Union at the Ukrainian Forum held within the scope of CHEMSS Summit.
The Ukrainian Forum held in Kielce was also aimed at integration of international action and measures in order to improve industrial chemical safety and security in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Domestic and and international networks are to serve the purpose. The session was also a presentation of Polish companies and their place and contribution in chemical safety and security enhancement in Ukraine.
The speakers list included Ambassador Vaidotas Verba, Director of the OSCE Kiev Office and Taras Bobrowskyi who represented Border Guard of Ukraine.
