The chemical and environmental rescue team - live presentations in Targi Kielce
Thirteen fire-fighters were a part of the Targi Kielce staged action; they were supposed to dispose and render harmless a mysterious, substance that was released from a vehicle as a result of a road accident. There was one injured person - the fire-fighters were able to release this person from the car and offer first aid. This show started... the Chem-Safety-Expo.
The Global Chemical Safety and Security Fair CHEM-SAFETY-EXPO is held in Targi Kielce from 18 to 20 April 2016. The expo is held parallel to the Global Chemical Safety and Security Summit. The performance was staged at the outdoor exhibition grounds - the presentation involved the Kielce Municipal Fire Brigade Headquarters first-responders. According to the junior brigadier Slawomir Karwat, Deputy Commander of the City of Kielce units, such rescue situations which involve unidentified, potentially dangerous substances, are not isolated incidents for fire fighters and rescue service.
- Sometimes chemical and ecological rescue team members have to deal with substances in containers with no labels on, transported improperly. As a result of a collision or other traffic incidents these are released onto the road surface. Such a case was recreated in Targi Kielce - commented the junior Brigadier Piotr Witoń, the commander of the chemical & ecological specialised rescue team - Kielce 1. - First we released and took care of the injured person. The chemical and environmental rescue team was to follow. There are always at least two people.
Rescuers wear special protective suits. They examined the substance with the use of devices designed to detect radioactive activity and with the use of spectrometers in order to detect toxic warfare agents. The powder spilled on the road was collected for further analysis. The spectators who witnessed the Targi Kielce staged action were able to rescuers in operation, what steps they take in order to restore safety.
